20 Employment Opportunities Created Ha-Maila
While others are picking papers, others were looking on
As the sky clears up Sunday morning people woke up with faces of fear and hope, employment opportunity was the word on each and everyone’s mind.
More than 200 people went to the Mailaskop Community meeting on this day hoping to get an opportunity to work on the tarring of 10Km of the d2 road project from Mailaskop to N1 at Bandelierkop. The project will take 12 months to complete. Twenty people were selected out of the more than 200 who went to the Chief’s kraal, 10 women and 10 men and they are from Mailaskop, Munzhedzi and Vleifontein.
Picking YES and NO strategy was used to determine who get employed. People queued one by one picking small papers from the 5 litres bucket which was monitored by members of the community structures. Among the observers, there were people from Road Agency Limpopo.

The employment process rose tensions and anger when the community leaders said that only people who participate in community structures and who come to the community meeting will get employed.
Finally twenty people got their passport to working on the project for 12 months.
