The 20th of November 2008 has been made historic in Limpopo Province of South Africa.
The "First ever" Miss and Mr HIV and AIDS Awareness Pageant took place in Polokwane at Meropa Casino and Entertaiment World. In his address to the attendance and dignitories, Mr Tom Mboya(Polokwane Businessman) siad "It is the fisrt of this kind where a Miss and Mr HIV and AIDS awareness has been organised in the world".
The convener of the pageant Ms Marumo Mabujta said the aim of the pageant is to raise awareness about the stigma and discrimination to people living with HIV and AIDS.
Capricorn District Municipality Mayor Clr Monakedi said that, this is part of implementation of the resolution of the AIDS Conference held in Mexico earlier this year. He said that this is an action to show response to the theme of the conference, Universall Action Now.
